GERMAN COURSES

Though not an official NATO language, German is still the native tongue of a significant number of European citizens, many of them from important NATO member countries. Along with English and French, German is one of the most representative European languages. It is the official language in Germany, Austria and Liechtenstein, as well as one of the official languages in Switzerland, Belgium and Luxemburg.

At the Foreign Language Center, students have a possibility to learn German from levels zero to advanced. At the end of their respective learning programs – which are established individually, according to their professional needs – graduates can take a test and receive a STANAG 6001 certificate.

German course attendants will also learn about the culture and civilization of German speaking countries and about their militaries. Germany is a major player within NATO and EU, and there are numerous partnership projects between their and our defense ministries. Knowledge of German is therefore a prerequisite for participating in such programs.

Beginning with 2021, German can also be learned on-line within the non-intensive curriculum. The particular beginner course is aimed at people who are not at all familiar with this language and aim at obtaining Level 1. Learning is done by individual study with the regular assistance of a teacher tutor the course lasts for 30 weeks and takes 5 to 6 hours weekly.
